Homeware trends I am obsessed with

Of course we all know I am a huge fan of homeware and DIY especially when it's a DIY for homeware, so I compiled a list for you all showing what my favourite trends are and many that I have used in my own room. I am loving the summery homeware at the minute with bright colours and my solid favourites copper and marble. I have found some way to incorporate most of these trends into my room and I am giving some credit to Pinterest as I found some of these images on their and some are my own but I just loved the layout of some of the Pinterest images don't kill me haha. Anyway my lovelies, ENJOY!

Flamingo/pineapple/cactus/tassel garlands

Especially when it gets to summer decor like this looks really cute, as you all know I made my own tassel garland in my room (bottom right picture) and it is honestly the best DIY I have done yet. I also made a cactus/succulent garland for my notice board after I came across the idea on Pinterest, along with my Pinterest search I found a flamingo and pineapple garland which would be perfect for a summer party or in a vibrant bedroom. I would happily hang that garland in my room as I am obsessed with flamingoes and pineapple homeware as it is becoming more popular in shops like my favourites Oklahoma, Thunder Egg and Primark.

Framed Quotes

I am all about having quotes around me to inspire and push me, I collected a few of my favourites of Pinterest that were set up in presentable and appealing ways that I would happily do. I love how some quotes are organised on a shelf which is something I have done in my room with photos and framed quotes. I also like the idea of a framed quote leaning against a wall on top of a table or a set of drawers. I have done this with my cactus picture that I bought recently from Primark, as I think it looks new and I like it being around my desk area.

Pineapple home decor

Recently I have noticed with the weather changes more tropical things are becoming popular in homes. When I visit my two favourite shops in Manchester Oklahoma and Thunder Egg they always have pineapple themed homeware such as my pineapple copper money bank which I bought from Oklahoma for £14.99. It is so gorgeous so obviously I included a picture with my Pinterest choices, I also bought a pineapple duvet recently from Primark I think and it is so gorgeous and tropical that I love putting it on my bed. Pineapple really seems to be having a moment right now,  maybe it's the idea of a fruity drink or a rise in temperature making us wish we weren't working or we were on a tropical holiday. Whatever the case I really don't think pineapple homeware is going anywhere anytime soon...

Flamingo homeware

I myself really love the look of flamingo homeware such as this gorgeous duvet from Laura Ashley, it is totally stunning especially the pink piping around the pillows. As my room is pink and green I feel like I can comfortably fit flamingo homeware into my room, Primark have recently become more on trend with the cactus, flamingo and pineapple trends like the flamingo light in the second from the bottom picture on the right which is just £10. Just like the pineapple homeware I am not too sure what makes people so happy to introduce flamingoes to their home maybe it is the pop of pink colour to a room or the idea of a tropical bird. A common occurrence with these trends is that fact of the change in season as summer is coming the thought of a tropical island with tropical birds and fruity drinks is a winner in most peoples books.

Copper and marble

A trend that has been around for a while is copper and marble home ware, when combined together this combination of metallics and pattern makes such a perfect surrounding. I have this trend throughout my room from geometric tea lights to marble trays such as the DIY tray I created with marble contact paper. I find a lot of my copper homeware all over the place such as geometric tea light holders which I bought from New Look and Home Bargains and marble homeware from places such as H&M and Urban Outfitters. Copper has been attracting people and turning heads from the catwalks all the way to in your own home, this trend is all about making a home super chic and statement pieces such as telephones, photo frames, trays and tables and of course candle holders. It has become more acceptable to mix metallics recently such as gold and copper, it is all about taking a few statement pieces and making them work in your room. However, maybe in my room I went a little over board with copper baskets, plant pots, lanterns and brush holders oops..

Geometrics

I chose to show you two kinds of geometric trends that I love, the first being copper geometric such as candle holders and terrariums and then wall art such as wire boards and ornaments. This trend looks like it has no hint of dying out because it is very urban and is an easy way to add a visual pattern to a room. They can also be used on anything from rugs, to tables, to art work and more and are the perfect way off adding something interesting as it is very simple. Geometric home pieces can come in any colour personally I love pastel geometrics on rugs, cushions and copper geometric tea light holders. The easiest way to add geometrics to a room is through bedding as places such as Primark and Ikea do a range of bedding, curtains and cushions with a geometric pattern.

Clean layouts

I am a major neat freak so I am pretty much in love with clean layouts and nothing cluttering. My worst fear in life well for the home is having things in the wrong place like I hate having too many things on a shelf or a desk for example and everything has to have a place yes it sounds snobby but personally I think a clean layout helps me work better and keep myself focused. Plus no one wants to live like a slob, I mean if I can keep my place tidy while living with a soldier, having a job going to the gym and all them other adult things then I'm sure others can. Ew I sounded so snobby haha, but you know I'm sure others agree that a clean layout is so appealing with things in the right place that just make you happy to see. I love a homely house with pictures in frames and ornaments and things but also plenty of space.

Pastels

Okay, this one is no surprise for me. I adore some pastel home decor my room is actually light pink and mint green (yes it works together) and I absolutely love it, so of course I love a lot more pastel home decor with the odd hint of copper DUH. I even found pastel pineapples on Pinterest how wonderful, I just think pastels don't have to be for that young girl or babies they can work in homes for couples and they even help to make an area look tidier and neat. I think that if a room lacks colour and is mostly white and grey then pastels can add a pop of colour but nothing too harsh like a bright orange pillow pastels are something simple for someone who likes a tranquil setting.

Indoor Plants

From succulents to terrariums filled with spikey cactuses, these are the perfect addition to a modern home. This is a major trend that is growing day by day, whether you choose to have large plants or small plants like myself just to decorate a desk or a shelf it still sets a mature atmosphere with colour. Larger plants are good for making a statement and decorating a normally empty area, whereas smaller plants add detail to a small room with less space. A current trend is hanging terrariums and plants from the ceiling for a hanging garden affect which looks incredible, along with the use of terrariums which combine together several plants in the way you want them.

Holographic

This is a new style to me as I have only a few pieces like this however I just love it. Holographic to me means like mirrors and pearly effects. I bought a few bowls a while back from TK MAXX and they reminded me of mermaids tails and were incredibly beautiful with the way the glass shimmered and changed colour which you can see in the images above. While surfing Pinterest I came across a brilliant holographic garland which I would have in my own room which used a rainbow effect. That is truly gorgeous and something I would happily make in a DIY, I'm finding a lot of holographic pieces are in pot ware like vases and bowls and ornaments obviously but one simple holographic pieces can set a room and this trend will not be going anywhere quickly.

Polaroids

For Valentine's day Nathan bought me a fujifilm polaroid camera to document our adventures and boy have we. Me and Nathan equally share out the pictures so he has one and I have one when we use it. I love using these to decorate my room using my little cactus photo holder to hold a few that are special to me and also using LALALAB to create larger polaroids that I used on my notice board that I made in my latest DIY post. They were super inexpensive and I think they are amazing because polaroids capture a moment and add a vintage style to a room.

Well that is all my lovelies for the trends I am currently obsessed with, I hope you enjoyed and feel free to comment your favourite home ware trends at the minute.

All my love,
