Copper Homeware...

A huge trend at the minute is copper homeware and I am a huge follower of it. Coming from a textiles background doing a bit of DIY is the best solution to changing something that isn't just right. So when it comes to liking an object but not the colour then you can change it with some simple spray paint or acrylic paint. It is actually rather satisfying seeing an object before and after doing some DIY, I find myself at least once a week painting something copper just so it fits into my room. So here are some of pieces that I have either bought as they are or changed. ENJOY!

Moscow Mule Mug £2.99 Home Bargains

So I actually bought this mug today and I am completely in love! This was a total bargain as I have seen these everywhere else for £10/15 and I was like not justifying that on a mug. As soon as I seen this on the shelf I was like MINE! They actually do a nice range of copper homeware as you will see further down. But of course first I took a cool funny selfie haha

Bit's & Bob's Basket £4 Matalan

So these have been shown a million and one times already on my blog but I just think 'well it is copper and people love these baskets so why not?!' I use the smaller basket for little objects like my camera, nail file, tape and makeup wipes things like that. It just looks super cute on the edge of my desk and was a total bargain!

This and That Basket £6 Matalan

So this is the larger basket and I think both for £10 is a brilliant price. I kept seeing these on the H&M website and I was desperate for some but they were out of stock. So I was searching everywhere for similar pieces. These are brilliant sizes and I use the larger one to hold my 2 favourite Victoria's Secret sprays in Mango Temptation and Coconut Passion. A long with a hand painted Ikea Skurar Plant Pot £3 that contains my other makeup brushes, scissors and sponges and all my notebook collection as I love cool notebooks!

Hand painted Wooden Z letter £1.20 Abakhan

So as I said I paint something at least once I week this is one of them. I had seen this on another blog and I thought 'you know what I want a copper wooden Z because they are pretty'. So I was looking around and found that Abakhan do them for £1.20 which is a brilliant price and the letter isn't massive. I'm not sure yet if I intend to keep it there but it does look nice, my mum kept asking me though why I didn't get O E for the rest of my name but that is far too much time and effort painting and I barely have enough room haha.

Hand painted elephant candle £3 Primark

So these little guys are my favourite things about my windowsill. The black one was actually my grans before she died and she received these off my dad when he went with my brother to South Africa. However the little copper elephant was originally silver (I think I showed this on my Primark Haul for January) but I thought 'hey ho let's paint him'. I just love elephants so these remind me when I'm working to keep going, be strong and think wisely. I placed these either side of my fake terrarium from The Range as it reminds me off the wild and breaks them up nicely.

Copper lanterns £8 The Range

So my mum bought me these when we visited The Range and also picked up my copper paint and the terrarium shown above. They are very like moroccan vibe and have some beautiful detail on the little metal parts around the light. I have got into the moroccan decor style recently and it links so well with my tapestry on the facing wall. I think this style links well with the elephants as they are very like similar to this theme and they look awesome in contrast with shades of pink.

Wooden hand painted elephant plaque £1.50 Primark

So this was originally black so what else was I gonna do? PAINT IT! It took me such a long time as the black parts were carved out so I had the tiniest brush dapping on paint and it took me forever! Gave me awful back ache! But anyway it links beautifully hung on my lanterns near my other elephant ornaments.

This is what I mean about Moroccan theme with the lanterns and all the mandala patterns and how the copper and golds suit well with the pinks.

Copper Heart Bell Hanging Ornament £3 Asda

THIS IS SO CUTE! I did not have a place for this recently but it is super cute hanging on my wardrobe doors. If only I could get copper wardrobe handles, then my life would be complete. This has a cute little jingle like when you hear Santas sleigh bells ;) but it is just so sweet and delicate and an awesome price.

Copper Tea Light £2.99 Home Bargains

This is so cute with a little tea light, I like to use the Primark Pineapple candles which smell unreal! I like this because of the way the wire is twisted and it's a really bright copper colour which is the type I love. Go bright or go home copper homeware haha. It suits really well with my Victoria's Secret and Pandora bags as they all link with my colour scheme.

Double Copper Tealight £3.99 Home Bargains

So a long with the tea light above this is another type that they do. They also do matching photo frames to this and I use the same pineapple candles with this. It does look stunning in the middle of my desk burning away during the evening. My mum actually picked this up for me and I was super happy with it as she got the copper theme spot on so GO MUM!

Hand Painted Stag's Head £5 Primark

I think i feautred this before on my blog in a Primark haul, but I decided I didn't like the purple flowers so I painted them copper. I debated actually painting the whole thing copper but the brown tones of the face match my floor and wardrobes. It does look nice holding all my jewellery especially my copper/rose gold pieces and help for heroes bands.

Hand Painted LOVE Lights £9.99 Pound Stretcher

So this was originally red but I decided to paint the edging copper as the red did not suit my room colours. This looks super cute lit up and brightens up my shelves. Although it was very hard to paint it was worth it because it looks so good now.

Hand Painted Ikea SKURAR plant pots £3 (large) and £2 (small)

So this was the start of my copper painting obsession even though it took a few coats of paint. These look nice with the contrasted parts painting like either the top or the bottom, i mentioned these recently in my Cute Bit's and Bob's post and I use them to hold my perfumes and brushes. The smaller pot in the middle is from Paperchase £5 and is used to hold my MAC lipliners and lip crayons.

Copper effect fruit bowl/basket £2.99 and copper effect jar £0.99 Home Bargains

So after posting this last night I went out and picked up the fruit bowl because I want to put all my lush bath bombs into it. I had seen it when I picked up the mug so I thought they would look nice in it even though it is like an off copper colour rather than bright copper. The little jar on the other hand was just a random spontaneous purchase, it was randomly places on one of the shelves without a tag so the girl gave it to me for 99p but I love it and I think I might use it for either my Lush bath melts or in fact bobby pins and bobbles.  I also bought a notebook £0.89 (rather retro) which fits well with the colours even if it isn't copper but as soon as I find a copper notebook I will have several!

Like I don't get these stuck up people who only shop in high end stores and think you are cheap for shopping in Primark or wherever, honestly I can afford to shop in other places but I'm not fussed about the shop really. I mean that Moscow Mule Mug is like £10/15 everywhere else I look and it was £2.99 in Home Bargains. JUST SAYING!

Anyway my lovelies hope you enjoyed this post!

All my love,
