My Dream Wedding

So if you didn't already know my job is in the wedding industry as a wedding organiser well an apprentice anyway, and I decorate wedding venues for many a happy couple and other events such as christenings and parties. So obviously I have put a little thought into my wedding especially a colour scheme and how I want it to look overall. So I thought I would share that in a blog post plus it is always a helpful look back for me when it comes time for me and Nathan to plan our wedding. So as many of you know Nathan is a soldier in the army and I want that to be a big part of our big day so I had a little scroll through my Pinterest boards and found a few inspirational photos to display my ideas.

The Colour Scheme.

I had to think very carefully about how I want to incorporate my colour scheme with Nathan's army number 2's which is what we both want him to wear when he gets married, you can get another suit in navy but me and him both love the suit he normally wears for weddings and such which is a khaki Green colour. So when taking that into consideration I thought my wedding colours could be lilac, khaki green with hints of white which would be easy to portrays in flowers, and the venue that I chose does colour schemes where they can put purple lights in and white drapes to suit whatever colour scheme.

Floral ideas for the colour scheme
The Venue.
So I live in Manchester so that's a big industrial city where there is little country-side type venues to fall in love with without them being next to a motorway or in the middle of nowhere. However, I was lucky enough to have my prom at my dream wedding venue and I instantly fell in love with the place. It's very rustic and barn-estique with the wrapped fairy lights and drapes across the ceiling with chandeliers which I would love to add my own decorative ideas too also. Linking with the colour scheme and how I mentioned the drapes and lights you can see from the below image how it would all work together. But it will cost alot I can tell already haha...

The Dress.
Before I wanted to be a wedding organiser I wanted to work in a bridal shopping either owning my own as my final goal or making dresses but then I found making clothes rather simple and I wanted a larger challenge and I had always loved interior design and things like that which drew me to wedding organising and decorating venues. So obviously I thought of what dress I would love, I'm not one for the big Cinderella style dresses I love the fitted at the waist then spread out into a train at the bottom I think those kind are utterly beautiful with the longest veil to flow down the back.

Incorporating the Army.
I owe a lot of credit for this to Pinterest, Pinterest is a LIFE SAVER. It has given me so many ideas over the years I can't even explain how much i LOVE that site haha. So I spent a while looking at searches like 'army wedding' and not a lot came up but when i put in 'army party' I got a lot of ideas such as crates spray painted with 'ammo' on the side with grenade shaped cake pops inside which I fell in love with, along with a special way to layer coloured cake mix (marbling) to create camouflage looking cakes. Not to mention cupcakes with icing grass and army men on the top which I would be more than happy to offer guests at my wedding. But most of all I loved the signs like Mess Hall or Command Post which could look good outside hung up or around the venue along with a table for the wedding favour bags shown in the images.

The Cake.
So as I mentioned above I found a special way to layer cake icing to look like camouflage very similar to the cupcakes and when I thought about it camouflage is meant to hide a person so I thought of doing that inside the cake and layered with chocolate icing between the layers and then covering with white icing and simple white flowers such as babies breath and other small delicate flowers.

Top: the layered camouflage cake mix Bottom: the outside of the cake.
The Cars.
So when I thought about cars I wanted to keep it really traditional, I mean I thought of a few eccentric ideas like an army jeep for Nathan and his boys. However, for me and the bridesmaids (which is around 9 of us) I was thinking the traditional old fashioned cars or maybe a camper van perhaps but more than anything I love the traditional cars and a sporty type for afterwards for Nathan to drive to the venue. Then I came across the vintage buses for wedding guests which I would love for close friends and family to go from the church to the venue as the venue is rather far away from the church I believe.

His Suit.
In regards to Nathan's suit I already mentioned we both would want him to wear his 'number 2's' which is army term for his like army suit which is issued to him and hopefully all his work colleagues would come in theirs too. But there will be important family members such as his dad and his little cousins who need special suits too so it is only fair they get a special section of this post to say what me and Nathan are thinking about. I would LOVE for his little cousins to wear like suits but without the jacket and little flowers in there top pockets with braces that would be ADORABLE. But I'm thinking that grey suits would be nice like nice and light is what I want for the wedding so like lilac and light grey and white and the darkest possible colour would be the khaki green but hopefully the pictures give some idea of what I was thinking…

The Bridesmaids.
In regards for my bridesmaids at the minute I'm thinking of around 6/8 depends who I am still close with when the time comes haha. But I was debating having all the same dress but at the same time I want each bridesmaid to be different so some with like straps some with one shoulder some with a sweet heart bust so each of them felt special but all the same colour and same hairstyle with matching flowers. But I love the thought of the long to the floor Greek goddess style dresses that flow beautifully with little white and lilac dresses for the flower girls.

and finally… Making It Personal.
So as a wedding organiser I want to make the wedding personal, recently I went to an army wedding of close friends and mine and Nathan's and their wedding was amazing! They had like a ferris wheel of sweets and a a photo booth which is something I would love to also do. However, I have always wanted the big LOVE letter lights you can get but at the same time I was thinking like N & Z lights instead to make it more personal with like little quote plaques and things like that scattered around the tables and food areas. There is something that i would love to do at my wedding however, so when I was in high school I lost my gran to cancer and she promised me she would be at my prom and my wedding. So to me it is really coincidental that I found my dream wedding venue in my prom venue and I could never forget it from my mind. Sorry! went a little of track anyway on my top table among babies breath and other flowers and like lanterns on my families side I would love to have a picture of my gran and on Nathan's side a picture of his great grandad that died just before he joined the army as tributes to them as I know they would love to have been there and see their grandchildren take such a huge step in life. I also think a fun idea would be to choose special ages in mine and Nathan's life like the day we were born and a picture of us for table 0 or 1 then table 16 the age Nathan was when he joined the army and a picture of the day he joined something like that. So here are a few ideas….

So there were my ideas for my dream wedding hopefully I can do a 'My Dream Wedding Part 2' and upload more things such as the church and food and wedding favours and so on. But this was just a taster of my ideas so far. But Anyway thank you for reading this, All my love…
